Neeraj Agrawal

Sh Neeraj Agrawal joined as Ambassador of India to Islamic Republic of Mauritania on Jan 23, 2026.  Prior to this, he was handling all matters related to United Nations agencies in India, elections to various UN and multilateral bodies, projects under India UN Development Partnership Fund besides coordination among various stakeholders on cross cutting issues related to United Nation at Headquarters. Besides UN Division, he also worked in the Consular, Passport & Visa Division of the Ministry dealing with consular matters, extradition treaties, legal matters and consular services rendered by the Ministry.
 2.         Sh Neeraj Agrawal brings with him an experience of more than 28 years in the Ministry while having served in Indian Missions/Posts namely Austria, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE and Morocco in different capacities ranging from Political to Press, Consular to Administration and Commerce to Culture. He has handled a large number of consular matters, including passport, visa and attestation, while serving in Gulf countries. He also played an important role in Operation Vande Bharat to repatriate stranded Indian nationals from Dubai and Northern Emirates to India besides mobilisation of community support for the needy people during Covid-19 in year 2020.
 3          While at Headquarters, Sh Agrawal has dealt with a large number of India assisted projects in friendly foreign countries besides dealing with budget, administration, finance, consular and vigilance matters apart from multilateral matters including United Nations.
 4.         Sh Agrawal has deep interest in music, travelling and in macro-economic aspects of India and the world. He is post graduate in History besides having post graduate diploma in Management with specialisation in Finance. He is married to Mrs Premlata Agrawal and has one son and one daughter.
